Hello! I'm Samantha Bryant, mother, teacher, and author. I'm a forty-five-year-old secular Jew living in Hillsborough, North Carolina. I'm grew up in Bellevue, Kentucky and have also lived in Morehead, Kentucky; Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; Madrid, Spain; Kodiak, Alaska; Kenny Lake, Alaska; Nome, Alaska; Middlebury, Vermont; Oxford, England; Emporia, Kansas; and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. For the first few years of my older daughter's life, we moved every two years, but we've been settled in North Carolina for about a decade now. I'm in a second marriage, and I got it right this time. I'm fortunate in that my ex-husband is a great ex-husband, even if he was a terrible spouse.
I write the Menopausal Superheroes series which has been described as half women's fiction and half comic book, which seems pretty accurate to me. Going Through the Change came out in April 2015 and the sequel, Change of Life, came out in April 2016. The third book is due out July 2017. I'm also published as a poet and essayist. Among my unpublished and/or unfinished projects are more superhero stories from the Menopausal Superheroes universe, a historical fiction trilogy, a women's issues fiction novel, and a middle grades novel.
When I'm not writing, I'm teaching and surviving family life. I have a passion for old movies and social justice issues (in particular feminism and gender issues). I bake and like to cook things I've never made before. I'm a gamer. I love attending sci-fi fantasy cons and spending time in the woods with my dog, a nervous wreck of an Austrailian shepherd we rescued a few years ago. I'm addicted to audiobooks because they let me read more than I could manage otherwise. I also love to travel, but haven't been able to do much of that since the birth of my second child finished stretching our finances thin.
You can find me online on my blog (samanthabryant.com) , on Twitter (@mirymom1) , on Facebook (facebook.com/samanthadunawaybryant ), on Goodreads (www.goodreads.com/mirymom) , on the Curiosity Quills page, or on Google+ (Samantha Dunaway Bryant), and now on Tumblr (mirymom). Obviously, I'm spending too much time online.
