So, something weird happened to me yesterday. A long time ago, I'd have to check, but I think it may have been a year or more ago. I signed on for an anthology project. Charles Barouch who has a small press called HDWP Books. With them, he produces these fun anthologies (at least they sounded fun to me) called Theme-Thologies. Basically, a group of writers come together to write stories that are on a certain theme (the one I participated in was Mad Science), and cross-edit each other's work, then put out an anthology, in which we each have a share in profits, should there be any. We got through cross-edits, then Charles kind of disappeared. I reached out periodically, trying to be patient, and learned that it came down to personal life troubles: illness, day job problems, etc. It's like that when you're working with a one-person or one-family operation. The same thing happened with another anthology I'd sold a story to, and that one completely fell apart. So, I was planning to give Charles till the end of summer, then pull my piece back for submission elsewhere if he hadn't done anything with it. Now, this is the funny part. The book released on July 1st. I'm in the book, but no one told me this. I found out kind of by accident when someone posted something about looking for a review copy. So anyway, it's out now. If any of you are interested in the origin story of my mad scientist Cindy Liu (of the Menopausal Superhero series), you can read "Intervention" in Theme-Thology: Mad Science for $2.99 on your kindle. amzn.to/2aNwI2B
